About Rebekah Burns
Rebekah Burns is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with training which includes a Bachelor of Social Work, Certificates 1 & 2 – Gottman Couple Therapy, Certificate in Suicide Prevention, Certificate in C.B.T (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), Cert IV – Training & Assessment, Certificates in Child Mental Health and ACT Training.
Previously as the Clinical Operations Manager (West) for the Central QLD Medicare Local, Rebekah Burns lead a multi-disciplinary team of Allied Health Clinicians to deliver direct services to the Central Highlands community in the areas of Mental Health, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Dietetics, Community Nursing, Addictions, Podiatry, Diabetes Education and Midwifery Services.
Rebekah worked closely with community stakeholders including G.P’s, CQHHS, community services, health services, consumers/families that lived locally and regionally within the CQ catchment area, counselling clients with advanced ‘mental health’ care needs.
In 2010 Rebekah began her own ‘private practice counselling business’. Based in Emerald, Rebekah continues to support Emerald and surrounding communities in the Central Highlands and further afield, including Springsure, Rolleston, Blackwater, Comet, Capella, Gemfields, Clermont, Blackall, Longreach, Dysart and Middlemount etc.
Rebekah supports individuals, couples and parents to manage their day to day emotional and psychological well-being needs. Rebekah currently receives referrals from full fee private clients and couples, G.P referred clients for Adult and Teen Mental Health, Employee Assistance Program referrals and NDIS referrals.
Over the preceding years Rebekah has worked in varying roles as a Social Worker delivering services such as Individual Counselling, Couple Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Critical Incident Debriefing, Family Relationship Counselling, Family Relationship Education and Skills Training, Groupwork (Men, Women & Children), Advocacy, Court Support and Service Development/Quality Improvement & Clinical Governance. Early experience in the Domestic and Family Violence field has lead towards Rebekah having a special interest in working with ‘Couples’ to help them develop healthy communication skills and management of conflict that in turn supports the betterment of the whole family system emotionally and psychologically.
